On Saturday, January 4th, 2025, a significant agricultural initiative was unveiled in Gotavu Village, Sheli Cell, Rugalika Sector, located in Kamonyi District of the Southern Province of Rwanda. The Poultry Legence Project, a new venture focused on egg production, officially launched its operations with a grand opening ceremony that brought together local officials, key stakeholders, and community members.

The event was graced by the attendance of district authorities, as well as the Director General of the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA). Guests were treated to a guided tour of the newly established poultry farm, led by the farm manager, Mr. Noel Twagirayesu, and the project manager, Mr. Samuel Iyokwizerwa. The farm boasts an initial capacity of 2,000 birds, aimed at producing high-quality eggs for local markets.

The Poultry Legence Project marks a significant step forward in local agriculture, bringing modern farming practices to the region while creating economic opportunities for the community. The initiative is expected to generate jobs, boost local food production, and contribute to the sustainable development of the district.

Mr. Pancratius Mukeh, the Founder and Managing Director of The Legence Group Ltd, based in the United States, attended the event and expressed his deep gratitude to the district authorities, the people of Rwanda, and his dedicated staff. "I am truly thankful for the support and the opportunity to invest in this vibrant community. I believe that this project will not only create employment opportunities but also help in building a more sustainable agricultural sector in Rwanda," Mr. Mukeh said during his address.

The launch of the Poultry Legence Project aligns with Rwanda's broader vision of enhancing food security and economic growth through agricultural innovation. The project also supports the country's commitment to fostering an environment conducive to foreign investment, which continues to drive progress in both urban and rural areas.

With strong local support and clear leadership, the Poultry Legence Project has the potential to make a lasting impact on the agricultural landscape of Kamonyi District and beyond, providing a model for future ventures in Rwanda's growing agricultural sector.
